About Nkomazi Toll Plaza

The Nkomazi area is the gateway to South Africa's busiest border post with Mozambique. Named after the Nkomati River (also known as the Komati), which forms part of the Mozambique border, this plaza serves the large volume of cross-border freight and tourism traffic heading between Gauteng, Kruger National Park, and Maputo. The N4 Maputo Corridor, including this plaza, was a key SADC regional integration project developed in the late 1990s under the TrAC BOT concession to improve export links between Gauteng's industries and Mozambique's Maputo Harbour. Travellers to Kruger's Crocodile Bridge entrance gate pass this plaza on the N4 before turning north on the R571.
