About Grasmere Toll Plaza

The N1 south of Johannesburg is one of South Africa's busiest toll corridors, connecting the economic hub of Gauteng to the Free State and Western Cape. SANRAL manages this section directly, with toll revenue funding the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the N1 between Johannesburg and Bloemfontein. Grasmere operates alongside two southbound ramp plazas — a South ramp (Grasmere–Louisrus, R14) and a North ramp (Grasmere–Armadale, R14) — that apply only to vehicles using specific interchanges. The mainline plaza at R27.50 applies to all through traffic.
